As the Principal Consultant (Data Science and Software Development) at VLC, Jamie’s role is to ensure that the technology used and developed within the organisation is of the highest quality. This ranges from the evaluation of new external technologies, the prototyping of new internal technology as well as working with the developers and modellers to build stable and sustainable development practices to keep the company on the cutting edge of technology.

Since joining VLC over 10 years ago, Jamie has worked on a wide range of transport and web technologies ranging from high performance PT assignment, through to Outdoor Audience Measurement and high availability web delivery. Jamie has also worked directly for the Dutch Transport software makers, OmniTRANS, and has been institutional in implementing and integrating software best practices such as Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration into transportation modelling teams.

Jamie graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Information Technology and both a Bachelors and Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering. Even outside of work, Jamie is also a software enthusiast and loves working on side projects in web application development and functional programming.
